CITY–SCAPE: NIGHT STROLL

City–scape is an on-going project of Leung Siu Fung Hugh that aims to capture the quotidian scenes in Hong Kong through pixel art. 
 
Night Stroll, a series of works of the City–scape project, portrays the scenes that the artist sees in his ordinary night stroll in the streets of Hong Kong. A "jeh-jeh" (female shopkeeper) watching over a street food stall, a man smoking at the corner of the street and a real-estate agent talking on the phone outside of his office — all these faces that a Hong Konger would pass by every day are captured in Leung’s work. As though the figures are alone in different places on the same street, they are united together in a peculiar sense that they are all in solitude. By depicting this ordinary scene that could be easily seen anywhere in the city, Leung encapsulates the indifference and alienation that lies in city life.
